We would like to let you know about some changes that affect Mackenzie segregated funds, which are issued by The Great-West Life Assurance Company.
On January 1, 2020, The Great-West Life Assurance Company, London Life Insurance Company and The Canada Life Assurance Company (including their holding companies, Canada Life Financial Corporation and London Insurance Group Inc.) combined to become one company – The Canada Life Assurance Company.
There are no operational impacts associated with this amalgamation: all policies and contracts of The Great-West Life Assurance Company will automatically continue under The Canada Life Assurance Company. However, any documents related to Mackenzie segregated funds that previously included the Great West Life name and/or logo will now feature the Canada Life name and logo. This includes documents like:
- Trade confirmations
- Account statements
- Tax receipts
- Management Reports of Fund Performance/Fund Financials (available in April 2020)
- Fund Facts
- Marketing materials
Please note that investors who have pre-authorized chequing plans (PACs) on Mackenzie segregated funds will now see Canada Life on their bank statements rather than Great West Life.
We’ll be communicating with advisors about the change so they’re prepared for any questions their clients may have when they receive documents with the new branding.
