Mackenzie Investments understands that, in these unprecedented times, Dealers and their advisors are working closely with their clients to consider their individual needs, and that hardship from the ongoing COVID 19 pandemic may cause clients to need to redeem their mutual fund investments. In light of this, understanding that we’re in this together, Mackenzie will consider requests from Dealers on a case by case basis to share in providing relief from fees for redeeming mutual funds purchased using the DSC option.
All requests for DSC relief based on hardship must come from the Dealer’s head office, signed by the Dealer’s Chief Compliance Officer or Ultimate Designated Person. So that we can assess the hardship request effectively, these requests must provide sufficient detail as to the impact of COVID 19 on the client. As part of our review, we will expect the Dealer and advisor to have considered alternatives to DSC redemptions, and for the client to have taken advantage of all applicable government assistance programs for which they qualify.
